一 |     Karachi, Oct 11 (UNI) Nobel laureate Malala Yousufzai arrived in Karachi on Tuesday to visit the flood-stricken areas of Pakistan, media reports said.

Yousufzai is being accompanied by her parents during the trip amid strict security.

Nobel laureate and girls' education campaigner is visiting the flood-affected areas to raise international awareness regarding the devastation caused by climate change in the South Asian nation.

Pakistan witnessed more than usual monsoon showers this season that sparked countrywide flooding and left a third of the nation underwater, causing damage to standing crops and roads and rail tracks in Sindh and Balochistan.

Yousufzai is expected to extend assistance from the Malala Fund for flood relief, according to Geo news reports.

In the first week of September, the Malala Fund issued an emergency relief grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC).

The IRC will use the funds to provide psychosocial support to girls and women in flood-hit Sindh and Balochistan.

The funding will also be used to deliver emergency education services to ensure girls continue their education.

The assistance from the Malala Fund will help repair and rehabilitate ten damaged government schools for girls.

This is the second time that the 2014 Nobel peace prize winner has visited Pakistan.

In 2014, Yousafzai became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17 in recognition of her efforts for children's rights.

二 |     In a major development in the case surrounding the deaths of actor-filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, their son Nick Reiner has been charged with their murder. Los Angeles County prosecutors confirmed that Nick has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced this at a news conference alongside Los Angeles Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell. Prosecutors have also indicated that they plan to add a special allegation that a dangerous weapon, a knife, was used in the killings.     McDonnell said, "This case is heartbreaking and deeply personal, not only for the Reiner family and their loved ones but for our entire city. We will continue to support the Reiner family and ensure that every step forward is taken with care, dignity and resolve."               The charges come days after the couple were found dead with stab wounds at their home in the Brentwood neighbourhood of LA. Nick was arrested hours later on suspicion of the killings and has remained in custody since. District Attorney Hochman's office has yet to decide whether to seek the death penalty in this case.     Nick was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said that he was not brought to the courthouse for medical reasons. He is now expected to make his court appearance on Wednesday. Jackson is a high-profile defence lawyer who has previously represented several prominent clients, including Harvey Weinstein. Police have not yet disclosed a motive behind the alleged double murder. Robert Reiner was an acclaimed actor and filmmaker, best known for directing films such as This Is Spinal Tap, The Sure Thing, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men, among others.     He received multiple honours, including two Primetime Emmy Awards for All in the Family, a Hugo Award, and nominations for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, and Golden Globe Awards. He was also honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1999 and received the Chaplin Award in 2014.               Michele Singer Reiner was a photographer, film producer, and LGBTQ+ activist. The couple had been married for over three decades.     Just months ago, Nick was photographed with his parents and siblings at the premiere of Spinal Tap: The End Continues. Rob and Nick had previously collaborated on the 2016 film Being Charlie, which explored the life of a troubled son of a famous father. It drew inspiration from personal experiences but was not a biography. Earlier, Nick had also spoken about his struggles with addiction and visiting treatment facilities often.     Also Read: Emraan Hashmi on Patriarchy: "Men Thinking ’We Will Do Whatever We Want’ Robs Women of Respect"。
